Laang is a terror black metal band from Keelung City Taiwan - now based in the United States, born from horrifying experiences of what lies beyond life by the band’s sole member during a near-death experience. While medically dead, experienced what he can best describe as “a place beyond Hell” while in a coma. This world beyond death that he experienced was one of incomprehensible terror and desolation beyond explanation. The band’s debut album Hǎiyáng encapsulates this horrifying otherworld of emptiness, inhuman madness, and crushing terror.
"Overall I found this album matching perfectly with the subject matter. Yang Haitao relives a very painful experience through the angry and hopeless tones on the album, and builds them with feelings of fear, confusion, and rage. The variety of techniques that he uses suggest that he is a gifted and thoughtful songwriter. I highly recommend you give this album your time, and become immersed in his nightmare". -Metal Temple
"This album is a surprise, for its apparent integrity, for its heterogenous use of style, with authentic and resounding directions, contrasted with others of a more intimate and broken nature, and all based on the authentic hell that surrounds our lives every day, without falling into the usual repetitive satanic cliches that surround the black metal genre." -Zombie War Management
"Laang is a very successful exercise. Nowhere do you hear that this is a one-man project, because Yang Haitao has a wide arsenal of musical ideas for melodies and arrangements, and is also a virtuoso in translating his ideas into all kinds of instruments." -Rockportaal
